#Marie Antoinette: 10 Tom Hardy Roles You Forgot Happened -BB

Aside from becoming one of the most interesting parts of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, Tom Hardy has held a number of other incredibly famous roles. Whether he’s portraying the Cray Twins or taking part in the Battle of Dunkirk, his performances are memorable.

However, there are a number of fantastic parts that Tom Hardy has taken on that you might not actually remember. Here are 10 Tom Hardy roles that you might have forgotten about, but still showed the talents of the veteran actor.

10 MARIE ANTOINETTE

As the title of the article suggests, one of the most notable projects that Hardy actually took part in was Marie Antoinette. The French Queen has had many films and programs made about her, but this 2006 drama sought to tell the story in a new way.

Hardy portrayed the character Raumont in his younger days, complete with an aristocratic wig. He’s not exactly heavily featured, but it’s a great mini performance alongside fantastic actress Kirsten Dunst in an Oscar winning production.

9 WUTHERING HEIGHTS

Wuthering Heights is the kind of project that will repeated many times across time. It’s a novel that has been adapted repeatedly and so it’s no surprise that Hardy has take part in one version of this grim and gothic English tale.

Tom Hardy actually took a starring role in the 2009, two part TV mini series. He was one half of the destructive lovers, Heathcliff. The character was portrayed with the same dark charm as you’d imagine, based on the writings of Emily Bronte.

8 BAND OF BROTHERS

Band of Brothers is one of the greatest TV shows of all time, depicting two crucial divisions of the American forces during WWII. This is of course the famous series that debuted off the back off Saving Private Ryan and which also inspired The Pacific.

Whichever series you preferred, what may be surprising to learn is that Tom Hardy actually had a role in the show. He played John A. Janovec in two episodes of the series. The small role sees him with an American accent, yet the fresh faced Hardy isn’t hard to miss.

7 OLIVER TWIST

Another British classic by author Charles Dickens has also been adapted so many times that we’ve lost count. In 2007 and 2008 the BBC put together a mini series, aimed at retelling this story to a new generation of viewers.

There’s of course only one role that Tom Hardy could fully embody and that was Bill Sikes. The accent has always gone hand in hand with Hardy’s roles and the violent nature of the character was brilliantly performance by the rising actor.

6 STAR TREK NEMESIS

Most fans of Star Trek know everything there is to know about the ships, characters and usually cast members. Yet very few might actually remember the fact that Tom Hardy had a role in the movie, Star Trek Nemesis in 2002.

Starring alongside Star Trek legends like Patrick Stewart, Tom Hardy portrays Shinzon. The clone of Captain Picard was created as a weapon although abandoned at a young age. Hardy shaved his head for the role and went through prosthetics, as he does for many other parts.

5 SWEENEY TODD

Sweeney Todd is of course an incredibly famous film starring Johnny Depp that tells the story of a man seeking revenge for being put in prison, by setting up a barber shop to murder his victims; plus it’s also a Tim Burton musical!

The version that Tom Hardy had a part in certainly can’t compare to this over the top Hollywood production, however the BBC retelling of the classic Victorian tale sees the actor play Matthew, in a less musical interpretation of the story.

4 MINOTAUR

As you may predict from the title, this film actually features the Ancient Greek myth of the Minotaur. A small village makes many sacrifices to the beast in the hope that it doesn’t terrorize those living nearby. One man doesn’t believe in the monster though.

Tom Hardy plays the main character, Theo, who enters the lair of the Minotaur in the hopes of finding his girlfriend who had been sent to her doom. It’s a classic tale of a hero vs a monster and Tom Hardy plays the role well in the 2006 film.

3 THE TAKE

There’s a brilliant novel by Martina Cole that was taken and adapted into a TV series. The show, known as The Take sees a young man exit prison after many years of being locked up, looking to make a new start, albeit in the criminal world.

The main role is played by Tom Hardy, with Freddie Jackson looking to use all of his connections that he made in prison to create an Empire that any historical criminal would be jealous of. It’s gritty, it’s thrilling and the kind of drama that Hardy cut his teeth on.

2 ROCKNROLLA

This is another film that Hardy has starred in that takes place within the criminal underworld. This 2008 film is set in a landscape full of corrupt businessmen, dodgy deals and less than savory behavior.

Hardy actually plays a stand out character in the movie, a man nicknamed Handsome Bob. He got the name from his good looks and ways with women. However, the character is actually revealed to be gay, complicating his friendships.

1 LONDON ROAD

This is perhaps the quirkiest film on this list and yet pretty recent, despite the fact that many may not remember it from Hardy’s list of credits. London Road is set on the titular street and is a musical film based around the murder of some prostitutes.

It’s based on the real story of a community piecing itself back together, with the 2015 film also starring acting greats like Olivia Coleman. Hardy portrays a taxi driver known as Mark in a mysterious role and yes Hardy does sing a little in the movie!
